Have you ever dreamed of crafting your own furniture or decor from scratch? Whether you're an absolute beginner or a hobbyist looking to sharpen your skills, Artisan Academy’s 2-day woodworking workshops offer the perfect introduction to hands-on craftsmanship. We have dedicated learning journeys for both seniors and hobbyists, designed to suit different needs and passions.

Here’s a sneak peek into what you can expect when you join our woodworking workshops — and why so many participants leave with not just a beautiful handcrafted piece, but also a deep sense of pride.

Day 1: Learning the Fundamentals and Preparing Materials

Your woodworking adventure begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to the basics of craftsmanship, sustainability, and workshop safety. You’ll meet our passionate instructors who will guide you step-by-step through the entire experience.

Tools and Safety First

Before touching any materials, you’ll familiarize yourself with key hand-held power tools like saws, sanders, routers, and drills. Under careful supervision, you'll learn how to handle them safely and confidently — including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Preparing Your Materials

You'll learn about the different wood types used in your project and understand their characteristics. With pre-selected materials provided, you'll dive straight into measuring, marking, and cutting your wood pieces with precision, applying real techniques that professional woodworkers use.

Key skills you'll pick up:

  • Understanding power tools

  • Accurate wood cutting

  • Safety protocols and workshop etiquette

Whether you're building a wooden stool or a charming table lamp at Artisan Academy, the first day ensures you're fully equipped and ready for hands-on creativity.

Day 2: Building, Assembling, and Finishing Your Masterpiece

With your materials prepped, Day 2 is where the magic happens!

Assembly and Construction

You'll learn how to assemble your pieces step-by-step — whether it's fitting together stool legs and seats or assembling the body of a stylish wooden lamp. You'll also apply joinery techniques using dowel joints, screws, and adhesives, ensuring your project is sturdy and professional-looking.

Finishing Touches and Customization

Once assembled, it’s time to sand, smooth, and apply finishes! You'll get hands-on practice applying wood varnishes and oils to protect and enhance your creation, giving it a professional, polished look.

For the table lamp workshop, you’ll also install the lighting components — wiring your lamp safely and beautifully, ready to brighten up your home.

Highlights include:

  • Assembly of your own handmade furniture or décor

  • Finishing techniques to enhance beauty and durability

  • Fun customization options to make your piece uniquely yours

Celebrate and Bring Home Your Creation!

At the end of the 2-day journey, you’ll showcase your project alongside fellow participants — a proud moment for everyone! After some group photos and a mini celebration, you'll take home your handcrafted stool or lamp, a symbol of your new skills and creativity.
